Welcome to The Steading, Upper Donside’s hidden gem. Set in the heart of Strathdon amidst some of Scotland’s most majestic Highland scenery, bringing to these glens a special place to eat & drink.
Our newly renovated pub opened the doors this summer - a warm and vibrant place for locals and visitors to come share the craic and relax and unwind in a secluded, Highland setting. From towering Scots Pines above the tumbling river Don to heather-clad hills and rugged glens. Our quiet corner of the Cairngorms is one of Aberdeenshire’s best-kept secrets, so there will always be a space for you at the bar, whether you’re visiting from afar or live down the road.
The Steading is within easy reach of Aberdeen and Inverness, at a little over an hour’s drive from each.
"We had a great evening on a cold wet Wednesday, which was pie and pint night! Pies were very tasty, the beef and onion was great! We were greeted by Kym the manager and kept company with friendly chat, she was lovely and introduced us to the locals and other waitress. We were staying at the Sweetheart cottage, 1 mile or so down the road and Lizzie who owns the cottage had prepared a little survival kit to get back and fourth to the pub which indeed made it possible for us to visit in the first place as we had to take the hilly track path with no lights! It Was a big change from going to the pubs in Glasgow but we loved it and will be returning next year. Thanks again for your kindness and warmth."
"October 13th, 2019. While visiting family from Boston, MA, USA, happened upon this very stylish, cool spot. Amazing staff, so friendly, very good food (pies are awesome) and a warm, welcoming vibe. As well as local beers, a huge range of whiskey and gin. If you're in the area, don't miss it!
Stylish interior · Great food · Great value · Friendly bartenders"
